REMY CARRIAT ARTISANS' ITINERARY

THE TRUE "FRENCH" LEATHER

The history of the Carriat tannery begins in 1927 in Espelette, in the Basque Country. The young Rémy Carriat starts supplying shoemakers in the Southwest
and quickly establishes himself as a reference in the French market. "He quickly understood that quality and proximity were the key," explains Marie Hiriart Carriat, heir and director of the family business.

The family soon offered their leather expertise to new
sectors such as furniture and then leather goods. "We have always been able to take the right turns at the right time, so our business remains nestled
in the middle of its valley, as close as possible to its suppliers and customers." A century of refinement later, the company's know-how is of incomparable richness.

Bull calf leather is now the house signature. It is recognized worldwide as an exceptional material, commensurate with the know-how involved in its development. "The most beautiful bags in the world, made from the most noble materials, will not last as long as a bull calf leather bag."

The unique appearance and feel of this leather come from its generous yet supple thickness. It is important to have it in hand to better understand its natural qualities. "It is the kind of leather you want to buy with your eyes closed, simply by touch."
