2 - Le Tanneur and Leather Goods

For us, everything began in 1898 with the meeting of a tanner from Lyon and a leather craftsman from Ain in a charming town called Belley. At that time, all of France was immersed in the optimism and carefree spirit of the Belle Époque. Our young founders drew direct inspiration from the already radiant "French art of living" to create their first leather pieces. Gradually, the motto for Maison Le Tanneur emerged: to embody French elegance and share a passion for beautiful materials and finely crafted leather goods. This approach allowed for the opening of numerous boutiques throughout France, and the teams continue to take pride in it 125 years later.

We pass our expertise from generation to generation and to all our teams. Our goal? To mobilize and expand this knowledge through the ages and innovations. Thus, we have an endless source of techniques and inspirations to create today’s leather goods and envision those of tomorrow. At Le Tanneur, we make sure to stay in tune with our time while never forgetting our past. This particular approach is exemplified by our iconic Sans-Couture wallet, which won a silver medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. We later had the idea to offer this model in various formats: handbag, clutch, messenger bag, and cardholder.
